At Your Essay Connection, we work individually with each student and enable their personal narrative to evolve as we think, plan, and write. By connecting, conversing, and sharing ideas, we foster an environment of comfortable collaboration. Next, we cooperatively review our brainstorming “homework” and assess which experiences, life lessons, and beliefs are most conducive to current Essay Prompts. A connection or affinity develops for one prompt over the others by discussing and detailing activities, affiliations, passions, and talents – a host of life experiences. Most significantly, we highlight what makes the applicant unique and exceptional. As we explore their story and connect the dots, we develop a detailed outline as a basis for a first draft, collaborating through a series of edits and revisions. Our read, edit, rework, revise format leads us to that final, fantastic moment when student, parent, and teacher alike connect with a finished product, and it’s clear we’ve succeeded!

Throughout the process, we are cognizant of maintaining the student’s voice and considering ways to best express the message while infusing individuality and creativity. Student input and opinion is vital, and conversation about suggested edits is encouraged. We make certain the message is clear, grammar and word usage are proper, vocabulary is on par, and transitions are smooth. We ensure during this editing process that the story still reflects their unmistakable voice.

Our students understand that working diligently on an Essay, being mindful of deadlines, and committing to our collaborative, organizational scheme are keys to success. The completed work will be an original expression of who they are, in their singular voice, and will give the reader genuine insight into the person behind the application.
